Ethiopian beans

Berbere (Red chili - spruce blend) and Erd (Turmeric) are staple herbs in most Ethiopian homes. These spices are used on an everyday bases to help make the traditionally every day Ethiopian meals that consist of a stew (with proteins) prepared in Berbere sauce and a side vegetable meal prepared in Erd sauce.

To build up the base sauce making use of Berbere orErd, you will require, onions, Berbere or Erd, oil, garlic and ginger. Once every one of these ingredients are simmered together, you are getting your base berbere or Erd sauce. Miser Wot (Red Lentil Stew)

Components

1 glass red lentils, rinsed

1 method yellowish onion, chopped

3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil (or just about any other oil)

3 teaspoons minced garlic

11/2 tsp minced ginger

2 tablespoons Berbere

¼ cup tomato paste (optional)

5 glasses liquid

Salt

Guidelines

Put the onion in a method cooking pot and sautee for 5 minutes, on a moderate temperature. Include the oil, garlic and ginger and cook for 2 mins. Reduce the temperature to between reduced and moderate, include the Berbere and simmer for 10 minutes stirring constantly. Include a little bit of tepid water at any given time if it begins to get gluey. Add the tomato paste and simmer for another five full minutes. Include the red dried beans, water and sodium, and stir to combine. Increase the temperature to medium- large cook through to the lentils are done, about 20 moments.

Fasolia (Green Beans and Carrot)

1 method yellowish onion, slashed size smart

1 little tomato, diced (optional)

2 tablespoons additional virgin essential olive oil (or other oil)

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 tsp minced ginger

1 teaspoon Erd(turmeric)

4 cups green beans, trimmed from the side and cut in one half

4 cups carrots cut the same dimensions as green beans

Put the onions in a medium skillet and sautee for five full minutes, on a medium temperature. Include the diced tomatoes, stir to mix and prepare for 2 moments. Add the oil, garlic and ginger and cook for the next 2 minutes, stir sporadically. Include the turmeric and prepare for 3 more moments, continue to stir. Add some tepid water to prevent the sauce from blow drying. Eventually include the carrots and green beans, cook until carrots and green beans are done, about 25 mins. Include only a little warm water as needed, still blend sometimes. Include salt to taste.
