Coffee water ratio for French Press
Whilst water is heating, grind your coffee. French hit coffee demands a coarse, even grind. We recommend beginning with a 1:12 coffee-to-water proportion. If you are using 350 grams of liquid, you’ll wish 30 grams of coffee.
Step 3
To start, gently pour twice the amount of water than you have coffee onto your grounds. For example, if you have 35 grams of coffee, you’ll want to start with 70 grams of water.
Step Four
Provide the grounds a mild stir with a bamboo paddle or chopstick. Let the coffee to bloom for 30 seconds.
Action 5
Incorporate your whole water and position your lid gently above the grounds. Don’t plunge at this time. Allow the coffee steep for four mins. Four. Don’t guess.
Step 6
Gently remove your French hit through the scale and place it in your countertop. Push the filter down. If it's difficult to hit, this means your routine is simply too good; if plunger “thunks” immediately down to a floor, it indicates your grind is simply too coarse. The sweet spot, pressure-wise, is 15–20 pounds. Not sure just what this feels like? Give it a try on your restroom scale.
